Excellent salads. Meat and vegetables like mama made. Decadent chocolate layer cake and apple pie. Very good coffee.

I wish they had a homepage for our "netters" so we could check it out before we go. Nothing worse than getting to a restaurant and you either can't afford it or first impressions are not good and having to turn around and walk out. It is 2009...get a homepage and show us whatcha got!!

Oh, that's a shame that you didn't enjoy your meal! I went there a couple of days ago (finally) and loved it. I couldn't try the mashed potatoes because I'm still on the stupid low-carb New Year's Eve resolution diet. (I always preface "diet" with "stupid.") My husband and I shared the pork chop plate. For side dishes, we had the green beans and the baked sweet potato. That sweet potato was absolutely incredible. A nice blackened top and then, when you cut into it, steaming hot, bright orange sweet potato. Yum! It was served with cinnamon sugar mixed with butter, which I ate even though I'm not supposed to have that on my diet, either.

I like your attitude, though, HannasDad. I think your review is well thought out and given with the spirit of constructive criticism. I hope the folks at BB's see these comments and use them to get even better.

Thanks for posting!

Went to BBs on 3/19/2009 for dinner.
Nice and friendly waitstaff, very nice place. Looking forward to the
outside seating in their beautiful courtyard.
Food was a bit disappointing.
The menu was too limited (not enough variety) and none of the
entrees were exceptionally done.
For a "home cooking" place they should be ashamed of themselves
for not having fresh mashed potatos. Their green beans were not
fresh either and they had very little else for side dishes.
Fresh spinach or collard greens are expected in a place like this and
none existed.

This place has exceptional potential: A big, new, beautiful, well laid-out
room to dine in with a huge bar and gorgeous outside courtyard.

I wish BBs great success. Please don't blow this opportunity!
You have the potential to be one of the most successful restaurants
in Georgetown if you think bigger and set your standards higher.

Ask for comments from your diners and take those suggestions seriously... and
keep an open mind. As Robert Frost once said you have "...miles to go before you sleep..."

Good luck !

We sell our pasture-raised Angus beef here at the Georgetown Farmer's Markets and are looking for some area restaurants that would be interested in featuring local meats, eggs and produce.

I'm promoting local production and am also putting together a list of such places (restaurants, caterers and retail) in the Georgetown/Round Rock area for distribution at the markets and various booths I have during the year. BB's has been recommended to me, but I'd love to hear about others.

Donna, I agree with you 100%. We have been to BB's several times since they re-opened, the only problem we have encountered is the wait while smelling the incredible food! My husband and his co-workers try to make it for lunch at least once a week, and they are a notoriously picky group. I've had several of the entrees, the crab cakes are top notch, as is everything else I've had. And absolutely be sure to let John know if something isn't right. If you are being reasonable, he will make it right. Let's face it, there are some people that are not going to be happy no matter what you do. We are thrilled that they have re-opened and wish them the best of luck!

Spring,

First, congratulations on your impending grandmotherdom! You must be so excited.

Second, let me put in a plug for Mel's Lone Star Lanes for the shower. Mel's won't provide a tea party atmosphere, but I can promise you that everyone will have a fantastic time. At Mel's, they can get rowdy without shame. :)

Whatever you decide, I hope the shower is memorable and fun, and that your daughter appreciates your efforts. I wish you the best!

I'm writing from Arizona and I'm desperate for some local help.
My niece lives in Texas and is pregnant and my sister wants to give her a baby shower. However we're finding that planning a baby shower hundreds of miles away in another state has proven to be... well... challenging.
Is there anyone who could recommend a quaint place that won't break the bank there in Georgetown?
My sister was hoping to do a tea party theme and found a tea house, but for what you get, it's rather pricey and we need some other suggestions.

Thanks!

Amanda,

I don't think BB's has a website yet. Their former location was also on Williams Drive, out toward Sun City, but on the other side of the street from where they are now. It was a very small location. From what I understand, the city forced them to close because the septic system at that location wasn't large enough to handle the number of customers who poured in every day.

They're closed on Mondays, so I'd recommend waiting until Tuesday and then dropping by again for a look at the menu.
