Temporary water ban in effect for parts of Georgetown-URGENT

July 17, 2009 at 3:52 pm , by Jenel Looney

The City of Georgetown has issued a ban on outdoor water use effective immediately for the portion of Georgetown shaded in the map below. The ban will be in effect through Monday, July 20, or until further notice. My husband and I live in this shaded area. When we got the email from the city, he rushed right out to turn off the sprinklers.

Wow, that’s crazy that we have to resort to these measures….I wonder when all of Gtown will be affected. I’ve been guilty of leaving the water on when I brush my teeth, but no more! No siree, I’ve changed my ways Jenel:) Hopefully it rains soon…

Edward, I’ve also started turning off the shower while I soap up, then turning it back on to rinse. Every bit helps. (Turns out, I read the map wrong, and we’re not in the effected area, but you’re right, it makes sense for all of us to conserve where we can.)

Wow, that’s hard core with the water in the shower:) Reminds me of my days in Iraq when I took a shower out of a measly bag that I had to hang up every night that dripped water slowly on my head! Talk about a low-flow showerhead! Great article about Brad Marshall too. I wonder what rating these Green Builder homes in Georgetown Village are at (out of the 100 scale). That would be interesting to compare wouldn’t you think?

That would be interesting, Edward! Now that the e-Scale is out, I think more and more people will be looking for that information when purchasing a home, just as we consider mpg when purchasing a car.
